What is a Community Health Worker?

A CHW is a trusted frontline worker who helps connect individuals and families with healthcare, behavioral health services, and community resources. A CHW is not a doctor, nurse, therapist, or case manager. Their role is to help people understand their options, overcome barriers, and access the services they need.
