Deep TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation)
What is Deep TMS?
Deep TMS (Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is an advanced, non-invasive treatment that uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain involved in mood regulation, behavior, and emotional functioning. Unlike traditional TMS, Deep TMS is designed to reach deeper and broader areas of the brain, allowing for enhanced treatment of certain mental health conditions.
Deep TMS is FDA-cleared for the treatment of conditions such as Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and smoking cessation, with additional applications continuing to emerge through ongoing research. Treatments are performed in an outpatient setting and do not require anesthesia or sedation, allowing patients to return to normal daily activities immediately after sessions.
During treatment, patients remain awake and comfortable while wearing a specialized helmet that delivers magnetic stimulation to targeted brain regions. Many individuals choose Deep TMS when traditional medications or therapies have not provided sufficient relief.
